About me and Prices

Hi – Im Rob – your friendly neighbourhood handyman.

I’ve worked on all sort of projects over the last 10 years, from small flat pack builds to full kitchen installations and house renovations.

The reason I became a handyman is that just over 10 years ago my wife and I were looking for someone to help us put the finishing touches on an extension we’d just had done (things like laying floors, doing some built in book shelves, etc).

We tried using CheckaTrade, but if we could get somone to call us back, or even come and visit, we often never got a quote

We decided the best thing to do was learn the skills ourselves, and so the journey began.

My wife took on the tiling, painting & grouting (she is amazing at all of them) and I did anything to do with wood, building or hanging things

At the same time I discovered I really enjoyed doing this, so I started doing small jobs for friends and family, as well as taking on some major house remodelling on a couple of other properties.

Fast forward to today, and I’m a seasoned handyman who can turn his skills to most household jobs.

Pricing

One of the things I didn’t enjoy when trying to find people to help us out was how vague they were with their pricing.

I’m not!

I have a flat rate of £40 per hour. So if a job takes me 2 hours, it will be £80. If it takes 2.5 hours, it will be £100.

I’ll give you a fixed price quote for specific jobs as well – that way you’ll never pay more than what you expect. For example if you’ve got a couple of big flatpack wardrobes that need building, that will take me 3 hours so it would be a fixed price quote of £120.

I’m not VAT registered, so there will be no suprising extras added to your bill. The price I give you is the price you’ll pay.

I’ll also happy to quote for any job no matter how small. You can then decide if I’m the (handy) man for you!
